Unity Church of Sun Lakes is a community of souls who seek a peaceful, loving, and healthful way to live through affirmative prayer, meditation, healthy lifestyle, and activities to promote a deeper connection with Spirit. Our regular Sunday service is at 9:30 a.m. in the Arts and Crafts Room at SLCC which is located a long block south of Riggs Road on Sun Lakes Blvd. in the furthest building south of the clubhouse. Our minister is Rev. Jeanne MacLaughlin. We hope you will visit our church and find the love and joy we experience there each Sunday. Coffee and fellowship follow the service.
“Sweet Surrender” Those words by John Denver convey a message. It is a way of acceptance and knowing that the path is, in part, being chosen for us. If we believe in that God of our understanding we are protected and guided by that Creator, Supreme Being, or the Universe. God is within and in all things, we are safe. Such a path can lead to undreamed of delights and satisfaction. We may or may not decide to go down that path. You may think that your plans will get you there, but it would really be only part of the way. There may be necessary preparation for what life may come in the form of family, education, or even a career, but then comes a sweet surrender to live a carefree life. Something that might be true yesterday is now in the past. Just being here today leaves the way wide open to become aware of endless possibilities to take whatever path or joy awaits us. When one surrenders to that path, worry becomes a thing of the past. There still may be challenges and difficulties and maybe even impossibilities, but if you are willing to make changes to make it happen, there is a reward. In the last line of John Denver’s inspirational song, he writes, “There’s a spirit that guides me, a light that shines for me. My life is worth the livin’, I don’t need to see the end.” When you are in that state of mind, an awareness comes of serendipitous events and phenomena. That, in turn, reinforces your path and you know that you are not alone in your journey. “Sweet, sweet surrender, live without care, like a fish in the water, like a bird in the air.”
