MOGA Championship Results: This year’s MOGA Championship was an awesome event, played over three days in February 2020, and it didn’t disappoint!

The MOGA Championship could not be settled over 54 holes, as Doug Stodgel and Russell Smith were tied 222 at the conclusion of three rounds of golf. So, Bonus Golf was required to determine the 2020 Club Champion, and both players were on top of their games. They played Palms 1, Palms 9, Palms 1, and Palms 9 again, and they were still tied! With 10 carts full of spectators following the two competitors, the pressure was on, and both Doug and Russell did not disappoint. Fifty-eight holes in, and these two were still tied, so they moved to Lakes 1. The par 5 would turn out to be the final hole, with Doug Stodgel winning on a par putt to take the championship for the second consecutive year. What an exciting event, and congratulations to all who participated, and special congratulations to Doug Stodgel!

The Super Senior Championship was won by Bud Hewitt, with a final three-round score of 251. Congratulations to Bud and our two runners up, Buster Laughlin and Sid Schwartz.

He started golfing when he was 12 years old, and after graduating from high school, he attended the University of Iowa in 1973 (Go Hawkeyes). After graduating from college, Dan was a banker for 15 years. After 15 years of banking, Dan decided to strike out on his own, and he owned and operated a small business in Pella, Iowa, for 30 years. Dan is married to his wife Betty, and they will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in August of this year! They have two sons: John and Nick, and a three-month-old granddaughter!
