It is impossible to not feel cheery when trumpet player Dan Reed is around. He always wears a smile, and his musical goal is “Keeping It Fun.” Dan plays as the featured musician with several bands, conducts and coaches bands, and teaches.
Dan Reed’s Dixieland Hotshots will brighten your life with their Dec. 6 performance for the Arizona Classic Jazz Society (ACJS). Christmas tunes in a jazzy style will be sprinkled throughout their great Dixieland.
Dec. 6 is the annual membership meeting for ACJS, and it starts at 12:45 p.m. It also marks the time when we are thinking of bringing joy to children, and ACJS collects gifts for donation to the Salvation Army. Please bring items that are new and unwrapped. You may include wrapping paper as part of your donation. Monetary donations are also accepted.
All ACJS events take place at the Crowne Plaza Phoenix-Chandler Golf Resort, One San Marcos Place, in Downtown Chandler. Go to the San Marcos Ballroom behind the hotel lobby for the event on Dec. 6. The cost is $15 for ACJS members; $20 non-members (become a new member on the 20th and get in free; yearly membership $35 couple, single $25). There will be two dance floors and seating with spacing to meet COVID-19 rules, with the choice of table or theater seating. Masks, gloves for dancers, antibacterial wipes, and hand sanitizer will be available. For more information, go to www.azclassicjazz.org or call 480-620-3941.
