Local business woman, Amy Karpovich, wanted to help veterans in honor of her father, Joe K. Prater. Last year Amy created two baskets full of great items and then sold raffle tickets and raised $400. She donated the funds to the VFW Post 8053 in Sun Lakes and the post donated the money to the Madison Street Vets for Homeless Veterans.

This year Amy again created two baskets and sold tickets. This time she raised $910. Amy asked that the VFW Post 8053 donate the money in Amy’s name to both the Madison Street Vets and Veterans First Ltd. Veterans First Ltd. provides backpacks filled with personal essentials and gives them to homeless women veterans.
