Here come the 100-degree days, and the league is wisely moving to an 8 a.m. shotgun start for the foreseeable future. Hydrate and bring a sports drink or plenty of water for your round. And let’s keep up the pace of play. Play it safe in the high heat.

The election is over, and on Jan. 1, 2023, the Niners will welcome in a new board: President Ed Anderson, VP Len Dolins, Secretary David Mork, and Treasurer Bob Deken. We thank these members for stepping up and ensuring that the league will continue for years to come, and we say a big thank you to the outgoing Board President/Treasurer Lloyd Schaeffer, VP Bill Pender, and Secretary Bruce Henderson.
A recent review of the Niners membership found that the average age of our members is 78, the average 9-hole index is 14.9, and we have 102 active players. The tee spread looks like this: 12 on the White Tees, 43 from the Gold Tees, and 47 from the Silver Tees. It is interesting to note that just three years ago, 80 to 90 percent of the members played from the White Tees. Time catches up with us all. The move forward has resulted in a much more balanced Winner’s Circle each week.
Keep filling those divots and repairing those ball marks on the greens.
