Message from the President
Leonard Horst
Warm greetings to each of you as we are now in the middle of our “hot” season. It’s that time of year we rise early (often before sunrise) to do our outside chores, walk the dog, and enjoy a few cool moments on the deck.
The events of the past weeks weigh heavily on all our community. The senseless loss of life in so many parts of our country have touched us and made us aware of the precious time we get to share with family, friends, and co-workers. Take time for one another and look for ways to make a positive difference in someone’s life every day!
While we have a full-time patrol manager and 32 dedicated patrol officers in our community, we all need to be aware of what is going on around us and adhere to some basic safety and security practices. Simple things like locking the doors to our homes when we are away—even for a quick run to the grocery store. Locking the doors to your vehicle if you are parked in your driveway. Let someone know when you are going to be away for the day or longer. Ensure someone picks up packages or mail delivered to your home. Most thefts are crimes of opportunity, and if we remove the opportunity, we will reduce the crime in our area. Remember, if you see someone suspicious around your home, are involved in or see any kind of altercation, call 911 immediately! Let the professionals deal with these issues!
Each week our Association produces a newsletter called In The Know. There is a section titled “The Latest Patrol News.” There are many helpful hints and suggestions included in this section that every one of us can use to help each other enjoy our community. I recommend you read this on a regular basis.
All our facilities are open through the summer, and you are encouraged to use them. Be safe, be well, and enjoy the summer!
Racquetball Courts at Palo Verde
Jean Jones, Recreation Manager
Does everyone know that we have two racquetball courts located downstairs in Palo Verde? Do you know what racquetball can do for you? So, you know when you are having a hard time getting or reaching for things, well, racquetball can help you with agility, which will help you in everyday life. We currently do not have a racquetball club. What I am doing is checking to see if anyone would be interested in some kind of racquetball activity. If you are interested in this, please let me know. You can email me at [email protected] or drop off a note. Let’s see what kind of ideas we can put together.
Information Available
Jean Jones, Recreation Manager
Can the Recreation Department help you learn about anything? Is there a class or service we can get information about? What would you like to see, hear, or learn? There will be a box in the lobby at the Cottonwood Administration building, or drop me an email. Let’s learn together! I’m looking forward to hearing from all my peeps out there.
Thank you for taking the time to let us learn more about what we can do for you.

There will be specials on margaritas. So, get yourself a margarita and order up a cheeseburger in Cottonwood paradise! And let’s remember one of Jimmy Buffett’s quotes: “If we couldn’t laugh, we would all go insane.” Doors open at 6 p.m., and the concert begins at 7 p.m.
Paint, Drink, and Have Fun!
That was the motto for Thursday night’s Wine and Paint Night with Pinots Palette in Cottonwood’s Saguaro Room!
Forty-eight ladies, including a couple of husbands, came out for the event. We had raffles, wine, and music.
Plans for a fall theme on Sept. 8, and Christmas theme on Dec. 5, are in the works. Come join the fun!
