The first Dolly Dressers meeting of fall will occur on Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. in the Oakwood Sewing Room. All current and prospective members are encouraged to attend. We will discuss reorganization, charity donations, and sewing for our dolls.
We want to thank a resident of Oakwood for a most generous donation of collector dolls. These are very beautiful and valuable “collector” dolls in their original boxes, and we will discuss how to put this fabulous donation to “best” use. We also want to thank the Sun Lakes resident who left a large donation of Barbie 12-inch dolls for us to make new clothes for and restyle their hair.
If the “little girl” in you loves dolls, come and join the Dolly Dressers. Our goal is to provide dolls for children who might not otherwise be able to have a doll for playtime. We also repair and dress the 18-inch American Girl-type doll. Each of our dolls goes home to her new mommy with five outfits, a doll-size quilt, and a bag to carry her new baby around in. Therefore, we need lots of sewers! We have patterns and boxes of fabric.
For no cost at all, you can join the Dolly Dressers until December and then decide if you want to stay. The Dolly Dressers are part of the charity arm of the Sun Lakes Sew-N-Sews, and we need new members. Our meeting day is always the first Thursday of every month in the Oakwood Sewing Room, from 1 to 3 p.m., year round. For more information, call Johnie Scofield at 602-510-7995. Until then, happy sewing!
