The Cool Down Was Hot Stuff

Sun Lakes Community Theatre’s (SLCT) August Cool Down event was a blast! After a hot summer and a hotter hit show (The Last Round-Up of the Guacamole Queens), SLCT members got together to celebrate the upcoming lineup of comedies and more. There’s plenty to look forward to in the upcoming months and beyond.

* The ImproVables, SLCT’s improv group, will be performing a dinner/show at Sun Lakes Country Club on Sept. 28, and again at Cottonwood on Oct. 28. Tickets are available at the Service Desks for each community.

* The Oct. 13 and Nov. 17 SLCT general meetings will present “The Little Theatre,” featuring the fun and fascinating history of the theatre group, and highlight myriad opportunities for people to get engaged in all the activities of the organization.

* Sex Please We’re Sixty, directed by Jo Birlin, will run Nov. 8 through Nov. 12. Tickets go on sale online on the SLCT website, at 10 a.m., on Oct. 12. In-person ticket sales will be held Oct. 12 and 26 from 10 a.m. to noon, in Room A-6 in Cottonwood, and the same hours on Oct. 13 and 27 in the Oakwood clubhouse lobby. Tickets are $20 each.

* SLCT’s Children’s Theatre will be performing for numerous classes throughout the Chandler School District during the early spring months under the direction of Sandy Bocynesky.

* Always a favorite, SLCT’s Mystery Dinner Show, The Case of the Malted Falcon, directed by Sandy Pallett, will play in the Oakwood ballroom March 21 through March 25.

* Next summer’s show, directed by Merrie Crawford, will be Dixie Swim Club and will be at Cottonwood July 18 through July 22.

* A musical, combining the talents of Chandler High students and SLCT members, is slated for a date to be determined in October of 2023.
