See our newly renovated museum: Irene Morisseau, our museum curator, says “Come on over to the Cottonwood Craft Shop and see our two new window displays. First, one with many examples of exotic rocks and minerals! And the second with the very best samples of our members’ handcrafted pieces of art. You’ll see all kinds of rings, bracelets, pendants, necklaces, earrings, stone handle sets, Ming trees, stained glass, fused glass, dichroic glass, gorgeous gourds, and beautiful beading.

How much does it cost? Well, of course, it’s free to window shop. And while you can’t purchase these items in our brand-new museum display windows, you can make them yourself by taking a class in the Sun Lakes Rock, Gem, Silver, and Creative Crafts Club.

Okay, so how do I do that? All you need to do is go online to our website, www.slrgs.com and check it out. You’ll see a pull-down menu that reads “Membership.” It tells you how to become a member (fill out the form), and it lists all 19 different classes and fees for each class. Hopefully, you are thinking, “Gee, I bet I could do that if someone would just show me how.” (Hint: We have lots of highly qualified instructors.) Plus, this informal, casual club is a great way to make new friends here in Sun Lakes.

When do the monthly general meetings start? Just mark your calendar for our first general meeting of the new 2022-23 season and join us at 10 a.m. in the Cottonwood Phoenix Room on Monday, Oct. 17.

How many Craft Shops does the club have? We have four fully dedicated Craft Shops located in Sun Lakes Country Club, two in Cottonwood, and one in Oakwood. It doesn’t matter where you live within Sun Lakes, as a Rock Club member, you’ll have access to all four Craft Shops’ classes.

Remember, just go online to our website, slrgs.com, and see how easy it is. All one needs to do is fill out the membership form to sign up for only $30 per year (October through September). And then don’t miss our Oct. 17 general meeting at 10 a.m., in the Phoenix Room of the Cottonwood clubhouse. This is where you’ll sign up with your new instructor and learn all about the classes you are going to take.
