Arizona Senatorial candidate and current Congressman Ruben Gallego and Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools candidate Dr. Laura Metcalfe will highlight the Oct. 9 meeting of the Sun Lakes Democratic Club (SLDC). Those attending will also receive an update on the past Legislative Session and upcoming 2024 Session from LD 13 House Representative Jennifer Pawlik.
Gallego began his public service as a member of the AZ House of Representatives from 2011 to 2014 before being elected to the U.S. Congress in 2014 where he currently serves on the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Natural Resources. He attended Harvard and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations, served in the Marine Corps, and was deployed to Iraq as an infantryman in 2005.
Dr. Laura Metcalfe brings over 20 years of experience in the classroom, as well as school administration, and is a current board member of the East Valley Institute of Technology, with a BA from ASU and a master’s and doctorate from Northern Arizona University.
