Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation Sisterhood held their annual Card Party and Luncheon on February 3. It was a huge success, due to the participation and contributions both by members of the community and Sisterhood. The Board would like to thank each and every person who helped out in any way – whether it was by baking for the cake sale, donating items for or sponsoring the baskets or just lending a hand. It couldn’t have been done without you.
Getting old isn’t for sissies – aches, pains and diseases cause us worry and concern. Alternative treatments have gained acceptance as MD’s have embraced an integrated approach to healing. Dr. Martha Grout is both an MD and an MD-homeopathic doctor and is the Medical Director of the Arizona Center for Advanced Medicine practice in Scottsdale. This center “is dedicated to the reversal of chronic illness, integrating the best of alternative and traditional medicine to educate and empower patients on the road to health.” Dr. Grout and nutritionist, Shelley Heinley, will speak to us about how to age well, to have as healthy a life as possible and how alternative healing methods work with traditional Western medicine to give patients the best treatments of both worlds. Shelley has a MS in Natural Health and graduated with her MSNH specializing in nutrition. Dr. Grout has 25 years of emergency room experience and is the author of An Alphabet of Good Health in a Sick World. Copies of her book will be available.
Please join us on Thursday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel House at Sun Lakes for the interesting and informative program.
Also, Sisterhood has been invited to attend the March 3 Men’s Club meeting (Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Chapel House) to hear from Dr. McHale, head of Emergency Services at the newly expanded Chandler Regional Hospital.
As always, donations for Toys From the Heart are always welcome. Please send them to Phyllis at 3495 E. County Down Drive, Chandler, AZ 85249.
