IronOaks Park Plan meeting set for March 4
Joe McGraw, IronOaks Ad Hoc Park Development Committee
IronOaks residents are encouraged to attend the Ad-Hoc Park Committee’s presentation on a proposed Community Park that will be held in the Oakwood Clubhouse Ballroom at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4.
Advocates for an IronOaks park with picnic pavilion, putting course and greens, Bocce courts and view areas are closer to their longtime goal; strong homeowner support will help propel it across the finish line.
Cheri Buettner, the Ad-Hoc Park Committee Chairperson, said the Park is for all IronOaks residents and the project was ranked No. 1 in the recent “IronOaks Project Request Preference Poll.”
Supportive parties include Lady Putters, Bocce players, various picnic pavilion users, and those who just want to visit a beautiful setting. “IronOaks residents are excited about getting their own scenic park and amenities, which many now have to pay for at Sisk Park in Palo Verde.”
Another element of the park is a memorial area with view benches in a peaceful setting overlooking the lake. The Ad Hoc Gifting and Memorial Committee is developing that part of the plan and envision memorial bricks and/or a wall to commemorate former IronOaks residents.
The proposed park site is on the barren rocky parcel between the Oakwood Clubhouse and the golf driving range. The park site has scenic views over the lake and fairways west of the Oakwood Clubhouse; it also enjoys captivating sunsets over the Estrella Mountains.
Funding for the park will be requested from available cash in IronOaks’ three year old Facility and Community Enhancement (FACE) fund. It is our goal that no homeowner dues or new assessments will be used to build the park. The park is a perfect FACE fund candidate; homeowners who support the park project must continue to make their views known.
The Ad-hoc Park Committee expects a large turnout of diverse supporters for the park plan presentation. The stronger the support, the quicker we can get the park approved and funded. That is why you need to be at the Oakwood Ballroom on Wednesday, March 4 at 2:00 p.m.
Park plan handouts and a tour of the park site will be available at the end of the presentation.
