Desert Threads Quilters Busy with Charity Projects

Joan Carver

With the election of 2024-25 board officers and appointment of committee chairs, Desert Threads Quilt Guild, a chapter of Arizona Quilters Guild (AQG), is ready for the hot summer. The Community Services Committee put together kits for members to be able to quickly create quilt tops for the variety of charities supported. Desert Threads, a vibrant group of over 50 quilters and sewers, does not meet formally in the summer months but will have informal gatherings to encourage completing unfinished projects and charity quilts. Informal meetings are the second Wednesday morning at the Cottonwood Computer Learning Center, gathering between 9 and 9:30 a.m. Beginner to advanced quilters are encouraged to join us, particularly for Show & Tell.

As an AQG chapter, Desert Threads members will have virtual lectures and classes available throughout the summer, too. On Sept. 11, Desert Threads will begin full programmed meetings with emphasis on fellowship and support that enhance quilting skills. Meetings are the second Wednesday at the Cottonwood Computer Learning Center. Registration is at 9 a.m. For more information, email [email protected]. Also check out www.arizonaquiltersguild.org.
