Stop the World, I Want to Get Off!

Linda Cools

In a chaotic world, once in a while, we all need to step back from our lives. In an ultra-fast society bombarded by social media outlets, we desperately need a social, physical, and emotional reset. We all carry a lot of baggage from our past and present. Oftentimes, it’s that very baggage, which slows us down and our progress in many instances, that shackles us from moving forward.

Perhaps we recently lost a spouse, friend, or pet. That event alone could be a triggering event. Memories of good times, perhaps bad times. Someone who meant the world to you, gave good counsel, advice, or simply answered the call of being a friend. Or on the flipside, you are dealing with a recent death, separation, loss of a friend, or struggling with issues or conflicts.

We know that young people are particularly riddled with these mental health issues. The solution is a good old reset. Try an emotional reset. Free yourself. Do something you love. Don’t tie yourselves to a predictable routine. Explore different activities. Engage with others who share your hobbies and passions. Reinvent yourself and expand your horizons to the fullest.

There is value in new experiences and going out on a limb! So, don’t get in a rut! Love yourself and, above all, love life.
