Carol Wenger is a founding member of the Sun Lakes Lady Putters, which was established in 1997 with an original 35 members. And while Carol has served on various projects and committees, her favorites involved using her artistic and craft talents. As the longest-serving flight leader, Carol has led the Wednesday Lady Putters for 19 years. Carol has made many friends over the years, but she mentioned one lady in particular: Gloria Brockman, at age 94, has been a true inspiration to many with her quick wit and determination to keep playing as long as her health allows.
Carol has decided now is the time to retire from her flight-leader duties, but she will briefly assist the new flight leader, Sylvia Lee, during the transition of duties. Carol was honored by her Wednesday flight ladies with a potluck lunch and other recognition at Sisk Park at the close of the season in April.
A proud Buckeye and graduate of Ohio State, Carol and her husband Gene spent their first two and a half years in Arizona in Tempe before making their permanent home in Sun Lakes.
