Reverend Jennifer Lambert
As we enter the season of Thanksgiving, many of us take time to reflect on that for which we are most thankful. While family, health, and daily joys often come to mind, I invite you this year to focus on the incredible power of community.
In a time when it can feel easy to withdraw or face life’s challenges alone—whether it’s grief, illness, or the transitions of aging—our connections with others are more essential than ever. The Apostle Paul reminds us in his letter to the Galatians, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2, NIV). We were designed for community, and it is through our relationships with others that we find support, encouragement, and strength.
There is something deeply restorative about being connected in person. Whether through shared meals, moments of prayer, or simply being present with others, these in-person interactions contribute greatly to our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. This is why I encourage you to consider engaging with a faith community, particularly in person. While virtual connections have their place, nothing can replace the deep sense of connection that comes from being together with others in worship, fellowship, and service.
Finding and nurturing a faith community is more than a religious practice—it is a source of wellness for the soul, offering us a place to belong, to share, and to grow in faith. It is through these connections that we are reminded of our shared humanity and of the love and grace that God extends to each of us.
As you reflect on the blessings in your life this season, I encourage you to consider how you can nurture your connection with others, especially through in-person worship and fellowship. Whether you’re already part of a faith community or are seeking a place to belong, being present with others can offer comfort, strength, and renewed spiritual vitality.
May you find peace, connection, and joy as you gather with others this holiday season, remembering the deep and lasting power of community.
