The Oakwood Lady Niners had their annual Christmas Luncheon after a step aside scramble. The food was delicious. The installation of officers was held in January. The board will remain the same: Karen Graves, president; Sue Boucher, VP; Nancy Hooke, treasurer; and Chris Berney, secretary. Thank you, ladies, for continuing in your roles and helping our league remain the same great league with lots of great golf and friendship.

An invitational is planned for March. Please offer your help to chair or join a committee to make this event possible and fun. There are lots of things to do to prepare. Please contact Sue Boucher, our vice president, and find out how you and a group of your friends can help. If you have been involved in organizing an invitational, your help will be greatly appreciated.

We have more new members and some returning members, so please welcome our newest members Deb Maxwell, Jolyn Elliot, Judy King, Chris Parcells, Sue Morkell, Barb Senneff, Gerry Weaver, Lori Wold, Sandra Worden, Debra Fliethman, and Debra Greenwood. We hope you all enjoy our league and have some great golf games. Golf is a great way to meet new friends, get some exercise, and be away from the house.

On a sad note, Josephine Saucerman Williams passed away at the age of 106 in Boise, Idaho, where she had lived for a few years. Jo was born in Portland, Ore., on Oct. 7, 1918. Jo is the founding sister of the Oakwood Lady Niners league. Jo lived in Cottonwood, which did not have a 9-hole league. She visited the trailer that was set up as the golf shop and wanted to speak to Mr. Robson about starting a 9-hole league in the newest HOA in Sun Lakes. Jo was hard to deny, so our league was started. She had four children, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. The league started the Jo Williams Low Net Championship Cup in her honor.

If any of you have something newsworthy, please let me know. I would love to include it in my article.
