The Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation Sisterhood knows how to throw a party. Our annual Paid-Up Membership Luncheon/Hanukkah party was a huge success. The catered affair was held in the Chapel House where we ate delicious latkes and played Hanukkah Bingo for prizes.
The Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation Sisterhood is holding its annual fundraiser, formerly known as Card Party. It is now called Games Galore, where you will have an opportunity to play bridge, Mah Jongg, canasta, Scrabble, Mexican Train, hand and foot, or any other table game of your choice. This charity event will take place on Monday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m. at Oakwood Country Club in Sun Lakes. There will be a delicious buffet lunch, and we will have our signature gift baskets, gift cards from local restaurants and merchants, a cash raffle, and home-baked treats at our bake sale. All proceeds will be distributed to local charities. You may register individually or as a group that will play a specific game. Registration deadline is Feb. 10. For more information, please contact Carol at 480-895-3198.
The next meeting of the Sisterhood will be on Thursday, March 20, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel House. There will be a presentation from the Minkoff Center for Jewish Genetics and the ASU Master’s program. Topics include learning the pros and cons of over-the-counter DNA kits and exploring the medical advances that have been made possible since genetic testing has become more commonplace. Learn what CRISPR is. Hint: It’s not for your salad!
