After some very windy days on the course in March, we were all hoping for mild and sunny days of golf in April!
Our Member/Guest tourney on March 20 was a great success, with fun and games enjoyed by all, although several players expressed some frustration and experienced calamity on the frisbee hole! Through generous participation in the gift basket and silent auction items, we were able to donate $5,000 to our charity Positive Paths, a local nonprofit that supports and invests in women needing development skills in Phoenix’s East Valley.
Our spring business meeting was held on April 17 in the Cottonwood Saguaro Room. The new slate of officers for 2025-26 was named during the luncheon. Our representatives to the 2026 State Medallion Tournament were also announced. The season isn’t over, as the Lady Niners look forward to weekly play through the month of May.
Our membership directory chair Jacque Poetker is asking the Niners to check our website for accuracy of your member information. Log in to cwlady9ers.com to view your info, and contact Jacque with any corrections that need to be made.
For many of our group, it is time to say goodbye until next fall. We wish you safe travels on your journeys home and look forward to seeing you when you return after the summer break. For those who stay during the summer, please join us when we switch to golfing on Thursday mornings. An email will be sent out with more information on Chelsea sign-up for informal play (no league games). There are also opportunities to play off-site tournament golf. Check the bulletin board outside the Pro Shop for more details.
Remember, “Golf can best be defined as an endless series of tragedies obscured by the occasional miracle.” —Anonymous
