Unit 19 Meetings
Donna Block
Mark your calendars for the third and fourth Thursday of each month for the two different meetings of the board (planning meeting and monthly meeting). The monthly meeting is the only meeting at which the board makes community decisions that are discussed and homeowners’ input is asked for prior to a vote for the board’s decision.
Please note that Zoom meetings will be available May through October. All required information will be sent out at a later date from RealManage.

Oakwood’s Unit 38 Fundraising for the Sjögren’s Foundation

Sjögren’s (SHOW-grins) is a systemic autoimmune disease that affects the entire body. It is the second most common autoimmune rheumatic disease, affecting as many as four million Americans, with upwards of 74,000 people in Arizona alone.
Oakwood’s Unit 38 residents contributed approximately $4,000 through their fundraising efforts. The Shop for Sjögren’s Garage Sale took place during the Oakwood Community Garage Sale. Thanks to generous donations by neighbors and purchases by garage sale shoppers, our All Aces Team was the largest contributor to the Sjögren’s Foundation in the tri-state area of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. Items not sold at the garage sale were donated to the Assistance League of East Valley Thrift Shop. Money donated goes to medical research, physician and patient education, and patient outreach. New research breakthroughs hold the promise for effective disease treatments. There are currently no treatments available, only interventions that decrease symptom severity.
A second event was held as a MeetUp Walk in Paseo Park on April 5. Walkers came out to enjoy the park and to promote Sjögren’s awareness, proudly wearing their new Sjögren’s Foundation T-shirts.
It’s never too late to get involved. For more information or to donate, visit the Sjögren’s Foundation website at sjogrens.org.
