The Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation is pleased to announce a donation to Neighbors Who Care in the amount of $5,000 and a grant to Jewish War Veterans in the amount of $3,100. The Foundation has made awards to local clubs and organizations in the amount of $38,675 in the first four months of this year alone. This would not have been possible without Sun Lakes community support of our fundraisers, donations, and raffle events.
Neighbors Who Care is a pillar of the Sun Lakes community, a dynamic organization in which many Sun Lakes residents volunteer to help to provide invaluable health and service-related functions to support many seniors living in Sun Lakes. Their website neighborswhocare.com says it best: “Through the help of our dedicated team of volunteers, we are committed to helping seniors lead fulfilling lives in the comfort of their own homes as long as possible.”
Jewish War Veterans Copper State Post 619 is a veterans-based organization with more than 100 members and is connected to the National Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America. These funds will enable the purchase of shirts and hats for their Poppy Drives, which help identify them and to wear when participating in many activities to help homeless veterans and other events. These shirts and hats will be their uniform for all events, including veterans’ funerals.
The Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation was established to enhance the quality of life for the older population in the East Valley, including Sun Lakes residents, in the areas of health, education, and culture. The Foundation gives grants and awards to local nonprofits, service organizations, and clubs to enhance their work in all our Sun Lakes communities. The Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation is entering its eighth year as a charitable 501(c)(3) foundation serving the Sun Lakes community. During the past six years, the Foundation has raised and disseminated grants and awards of almost $190,000 in support of many local groups that provide services, activities, and opportunities for our senior population.
