A Message from the IronOaks President – Survey Results

Pat Horning, IronOaks President

Hello Summer IronOaks Residents!

By this time, most of our snowbird residents have left our community for cooler temperatures. Did you know that approximately 24% of our IronOaks residents are snowbirds, with the other 76% being full-time residents? We wish them a safe and fun summer and look forward to their return in the fall.

We just recently completed our Homeowner survey, and I thought it would be interesting to share some of the data that came from the survey.

In addition, 87% of our residents are retired, 7% work full time, while the remaining 6% work part time. Interesting stats. We thank those who completed the survey. This data helps play a role in developing our strategic direction and goals.

IronOaks: The Ideal Retirement Destination! We are committed to maintaining and enhancing our community to ensure IronOaks remains one of the most desirable retirement destinations in the Valley, which includes continued board transparency and fiscal responsibility. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. I look forward to seeing you next month! And remember to stay cool and hydrate often!

How Well Informed Do You Feel in Your Sun Lakes Community?

Molly Bergesen

If you answer the question, “very well informed,” you must live in IronOaks! Our community is blessed with almost 40 very dedicated unit captains (UCs), covering 35 individual units. Some units are large (over 300 residents), while there are those that have only 20 individual residents. Did you know there are still members of our group who were part of the “original” unit captains organization. All have been involved in keeping residents well informed for over 20 years!

Our UCs don’t waver in their commitment to keeping all updated on happenings within our community: road closures, answer individual questions/concerns, apprise everyone of special events, and dispel rumors. The main objective is to provide accurate and timely information to the IronOaks community. If you don’t know who your unit captain is, please check the IronOaks website under the HOA tab/Committees if you want to check. As a reminder, the unit captains meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 3:45 p.m. in the IronOaks ballroom (we do not meet June through August). All are welcome! If for some reason you haven’t been receiving info, please contact Judy Sadkin at judy36@sadkin.com or Shanyn Engler at shanynengler@yahoo.com and they will get you “hooked up” with your UC.

As always, we are always looking for backups for our UCs or new UCs. Right now, we are actively looking for new UCs in Unit 32 and Unit 34. Qualifications include excellent communication skills, familiarity with both Word and Excel, and the desire to serve our community. One UC is quoted as saying, “The interaction with my residents has been a very fulfilling/rewarding one. Once you have established a relationship with them, they are more open to sharing problems/challenges that they have encountered.”
