The DAC, a Diverse Group of Sun Lakes Artists

Acrylic mixed media by DAC member Linda Wagener. Watching Linda’s art unfold as layers of creativity come together, all the while trusting the process, is truly an artistic joy to experience.

Here we are in the heat of summer, and yet the Desert Artists Club (DAC) still comes together to create beautiful works of art. We are a diverse group of artists with many talents, and sharing and creating together is a gift we can all appreciate. It is the inspiration and safe, supportive environment that the DAC offers its members. We enjoy and are grateful for each other and all that each member offers the group.

The DAC meets each Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Ceramics Room (A-8) in Cottonwood, which is located across the courtyard from the library and near the Golf Pro Shop. We bring our own supplies and work in our own mediums, some of which are acrylic, watercolor, colored pencil, mixed media, charcoal, oils, pastels, and pen and ink. The DAC is a casual club with no dues and no regular meetings. We have a lending library of instructional and inspirational books for members to use. All artists in the three HOAs are welcome to join. We have occasional social gatherings and bring snacks and some of our artwork to display for all to enjoy. We welcome artists of all levels and all mediums.

If you are new to Sun Lakes or have wondered about joining, just come and see what we are all about. Stop in on any Tuesday and check out our fun and friendly group. The best time is between 3:30 and 5 p.m. Feel free to ask questions or just peek in and see what we are creating. It might be just what you need to give your own creative juices a jump start.
