Pondering the Future of First Baptist Church Sun Lakes

Pastor Steve Foss

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:19).

The above bible verse perfectly suits First Baptist Church’s (FBCSL) current status. Our Church Leadership Team (CLT) met to discuss the immediate future for FBCSL. The CLT approved a new initiative, which we hope will connect with our Sun Lakes community. Beginning on Sept. 7, we will add a new worship service with a contemporary flare to our Sunday schedule.

Here’s how our new schedule will work:

8:30-9:15 a.m.: Sunday Bible Study

9:30-10:30 a.m.: Traditional Worship Service

10:30-11 a.m.: Coffee Fellowship for both services

11 a.m. to noon: Contemporary Worship Service

There are a few volunteer personnel needs that we are currently looking to fill:

• A bass player

• A sound engineer

• One to three singers

If you possess the time and talent to develop into these ministry roles, we would love to have dialogue with you to see how God may have made you for this very season in our church! If you do not have a faith community, please consider First Baptist Church Sun Lakes as your future faith family. You will never know unless you come and find out for yourself.

Our GriefShare ministry will begin again in November. If you have experienced spousal loss, you may want to consider this ministry, designed to help you heal and experience God’s comfort and plan for your future.

FBCSL’s Wednesday evening fellowship time is returning on Aug. 6 at 4 p.m. Eat, Study, Pray will return with our look into Patterns of Evidence, a video series exposing more current archeological evidence supporting the biblical narrative. This provoking series has been well received by both members and visitors alike. RSVP to join us in the family meal.

I look forward to meeting you!
