The heat is on, and many of our regular players are on vacation in cooler climes. The sign-up list is lower, and the temperatures are going higher. The best way to play in the heat is to “… Hit and Git … .” That was the advice of Lee Trevino, a guy who knew a lot about golf.

Gentlemen, the game managers spend a lot of their time creating weekly pairings. When you sign up, show up. If you cannot play, call the game manager as soon as possible and let him know. The names and numbers of our hardworking game managers can be found on the sign-up sheet, so a call is easy. A second call to the Pro Shop is also helpful.

As the publicity chair for the Niners, I send out the monthly Splash column. I also send out the get well cards to members facing medical challenges. I need your help to keep up to date on members who are out for a medical reason. So, I am requesting that if you hear about a member who is out, please let me know so I can get a card, have the other members sign it, and get it to the member. Thanks in advance for your help with this.

Yes, I have heard that the Lakes Nine has many problems, but you can help with a little sand and a six-second fix. Fill that divot. On the greens, repair ball marks and spike marks. It takes only a couple of seconds. These steps help the turf and the greens to heal faster and the putts to roll truer. Stay hydrated, stay safe.
