Desert Threads Quilt Chapter of the Arizona Quilters Guild

Blanca Sanchez

Hello fellow quilters and creators!

The summer has gone by quickly for many of us, and we are still in the throes of the hot summer weather. Our casual summer meetings have been filled with wonderful conversations about our sewing, personal triumphs and challenges, and, of course, beautiful projects completed and ongoing. Traveling continues for many of us, and the excitement of our first meeting of the 2025-26 season is getting closer. It will be great to see old friends and meet new ones!

Please put this first meeting of the new season on your calendar: Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 9:30 a.m. (social time begins at 9 a.m.) in the Cottonwood Computer Learning Center, 25630 S. Brentwood Drive, Sun Lakes, AZ 85248.

We will welcome Jennifer Johnson, the owner of A Quilter’s Oasis in Mesa, Ariz. Jennifer will be talking about the differences between traditional and digital printing of fabric and the methods used. Traditional methods include block printing, screen printing, and roller printing, while digital printing utilizes inkjet technology to apply designs. This will definitely be some worthwhile learning! The website for A Quilter’s Oasis is aquiltersoasis.com.

We have some exciting plans for our upcoming season with some great speakers, activities, Quilt of Valor Challenge, UFO Challenge, and group sewing days, to name just a few.

Let’s remember to bring a new friend to our next meeting. If you have any questions, please email us at info@desertthreads.org.
