It’s been a long, hot summer, but Daughters of the American Revolution, Gila Butte Chapter, NSDAR, are looking forward to seeing members returning and attending meetings. The chapter meets on the third Wednesday of the month from September through May in Sun Lakes.
The Gila Butte Chapter sponsors two $1,000 scholarships each year to two deserving young ladies continuing their education at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. This past June we honored four students, three from Basha High School and one from Perry High School. These young ladies will be attending Chandler-Gilbert Community College and continuing their education.
Along with honoring the four graduates, the chapter recognized two students, one from Basha High School and one from Perry High School, with Good Citizen Awards. The Good Citizen Award is given to deserving students who have shown leadership, service, and patriotism.
The chapter warmly welcomes women interested in joining the DAR. Ladies interested may contact Ruth at ruth@narancic.com. The chapter can assist with lineage research to prospective members. Membership is open to any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background.
