As we enter the autumn of our lives, it’s important to make mindful choices about how we spend our time. While it may be easy to slip into the habit of watching game shows like Family Feud, Let’s Make a Deal, or The Match Game on TV, there are more fulfilling options available. Being part of an ensemble that creates live entertainment for others can bring new meaning and excitement to your days.
If you find yourself feeling unmotivated or a bit stiff, it is all too simple to spend hours in front of the television. However, now more than ever, it’s crucial to stay active and engaged. Collaborating with others on artistic endeavors is one of the most rewarding activities you can pursue. It not only stimulates your creativity but also supports your well-being.
If music holds a special place in your heart, joining the Chordaires Show Chorus could introduce joy and learning into your life—right when you need it most. Membership brings opportunities for socializing with new friends, enjoying the exercise that comes with singing, and making a meaningful contribution to the community.
The Chordaires Show Chorus welcomes women who love to sing, regardless of their previous musical performance experience. The group recently gathered for its season kick-off potluck party in September at Oakwood’s Poolside Café. Instead of simply watching others have fun on TV, members engaged in their own version of Family Feud, led by Jan Kohlstedt, bass singer and vice president of the chorus.
At the party, four new singers joined the group and may soon become members, as the chorus seeks fresh voices this fall. If you are interested in exploring what the Chordaires have to offer, contact the membership coordinator Jan Kohlstedt at Jpk0127@msn.com to learn more.
The Chordaires will perform holiday music for no charge (donations welcome) at the Sun Lakes Country Club Navajo Room on Dec. 14. Two show times are planned at 1:30 and 3 p.m. Come take a listen to our amazing sound.
