Ironwood Men’s Golf Association

Dan Smith

Rick Staszewski, Publicity, IMGA

Thank you, Dan Smith, for your decade of service as tournament director!

Dan Smith arrived in Ironwood in 2009. His professional career as a senior level executive working within the challenges of the automotive sector provided the Ironwood Men’s Golf Association the perfect manager to handle all of our tournaments. Responsibility for global operations that included IT and financial touchpoints came in handy when IMGA required migration in its scoring system within IMGA and the Arizona Golf Association.

Dan was instrumental in the deployment of Golf Genius as the tournament director for IMGA. This migration in 2015 was initiated by the Arizona Golf Association as the preferred tool for scoring and tournament play. Support for this migration was not yet available. Dan, with his background in complicated IT management software for planning and manufacturing, was vital for this migration. Ironwood Men’s Golf Association was the first club in Arizona to implement this system. Other clubs in the Valley would follow, using the same software that Dan was able to modify and make changes to. As this rolled out within Arizona, Dan trained and tutored many of the clubs in the Valley. His tireless energy in implementing the correct system has benefitted all of us. As Dan retires as the IMGA tournament director, we are left with a solid foundation in which we move forward.
