Sun Lakes Ladies: Still looking for a fun and social nine-hole golf league? Our Cottonwood Lady Niners group is accepting members of all skill levels and from any of our Sun Lakes communities! We golf Thursday afternoons at the 1 p.m. shotgun start, playing both fun games and play-your-own rounds of nine holes and alternating between the front and back nine of the Cottonwood golf course. And there’s social time afterwards on the patio at the restaurant! Want to try us out? We are offering interested ladies an opportunity to join us with a “test drive,” one-time trial day where you can play with our group for just your green fees without paying the membership and annual golf fee. Interested? Call or email President Renee Seifert at 724-771-2633 or rapseifert@gmail.com for more details.
It was a great day of play at our first meet-up on Nov. 6. The step aside scramble format made for some interesting conversation during play and score comparisons while enjoying cooling libations in the Cottonwood restaurant after the round. It was fun to reconnect with returning golfers and catch up with their activities over the summer. Our next league party will be the Christmas luncheon and cookie exchange on Dec. 18. Please be on the lookout for more information and details about the cookie walk. Pictures of last year’s party are on our website cottonwoodnine.azgolf.org.
We want to thank all the Niners who contributed food and supplies to our November food collection. Our donation to local food pantries was appreciated during this time when so many are experiencing food insecurity.
The new Jonas system for reserving tee times should be up and running by Dec. 1, per our liaison to the Golf Committee Ellen Alvarado. We will post a guideline for signing up on our website cottonwoodnine.azgolf.org.
The new Niners Facebook group page is live! Search for Cottonwood Lady Niners and follow. We’ll be posting items of interest, pictures, and information of upcoming events on our group page. Niner ladies can now access information on both our website and Facebook, so you’ll be up to date on all Niner activities!
Be sure to check out the weekly games and results on the calendar, dates for our meetings and luncheons, articles in the Splash, and so much more on our updated website cottonwoodnine.azgolf.org. Take a few minutes to see what’s new!
Thought for the day: Arnold Palmer suggested a tip for taking five strokes off anyone’s game: “It’s called an eraser.”
