New Book Study Group at SLUMC

Rev. Judy Claycomb-Wismar

How can we make sense of life’s chaos? How can we find meaning and peace in these loud and frantic times? How can we reconnect to one another and to what’s sustaining? These questions lie at the heart of Anne LaMott’s book Stitches: A Handbook of Meaning, Hope and Repair. “We begin,” LaMott says, “by collecting the ripped shreds of our emotional and spiritual fabric and sewing them back together, one stitch at a time.” (Adapted from the book jacket.)

Stitches is the subject of a weekly book group meeting at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church beginning Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. After the initial session to get acquainted, participants will read a chapter weekly and gather on the subsequent six Thursday mornings for discussion. All are welcome to purchase the book (some used copies are available online and new from Amazon) and register by calling the church office at 480-895-8766.

Sun Lakes United Methodist Church is located at 9248 E. Riggs Road, next door to the Robson Public Library. We will meet in Room 1 of the Education building.
