Jim Wegman, Publicity
The holiday season is here. The executive board and committee chairs of the Niners wish all our members and their families a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, and the Happiest and Healthiest New Year. May all your drives fly straight and all your putts drop softly into the cup.
Dues: Gentlemen, please get your 2026 Membership Applications, accompanied by a $110 check, into the Niners’ box in the Pro Shop. Our treasurer Mike Crewdson will appreciate that. It will save him some last-minute trips to the bank. And speaking of membership, we have six new members: Randy Williams, Arlen Westling, Virgil Voegele, Joe Giardelli, Mike Michelson, and Tim Moss. Welcome to the league, guys. If you are not rejoining the league, please notify our treasurer Mike Crewdson.

League member Richard Katz is a multi-talented guy. Richard, a member of the Sun Lakes Duplicate Bridge Club, has recently been awarded his ACBL Diamond Life Master rating. And in addition to his talents as a bridge player and golfer, he is also a talented musician. What a guy!
Volunteers. Guys, Jack Baur, our VP Game Manager, is looking for a few new game manager trainees. If you are a winter-only resident, that is okay. There are lots of winter days. More game managers would lighten the work for the others. If you are here in the summer months, that is great. We have shorter pairings lists but still need game managers to do the work every week, and some of the other game managers leave for the summer months. Think about it and give Jack Baur a call.
Sign Up-Show Up On Time. When you sign up, please show up. The game managers work to produce well-balanced pairings, and when a player does not show up, it leaves the game manager with a problem. At the last minute he must rearrange the pairing sheet and then later find “Blinds” to balance the threesomes. These guys work hard enough—give them a break. Showing up on time is a requirement. The pairings instructions indicate an arrival time of 8:30 a.m. for a 9 a.m. start.
