Perhaps you’ve noticed the new Golf Landscape and Maintenance Department sign on Sun Lakes Boulevard at the entrance to the building. Several months ago when Ron informed Jeff that the Sawdust Club was available to help with small projects he might have, Jeff mentioned that he would like a bigger sign at the street so his vendors could find the place more easily. So, Ron got to thinking about a wooden sign (it was a Sawdust Club project after all), but it wasn’t long before the downsides of a wooden sign began to change his and other club members’ minds, maintenance of a wooden sign being a big negative. Another question they had was who was going to carve all the letters? One of our Sawdust Club members knew a guy with a CNC machine, and that guy was Paul. Paul makes many of the signs you see around Sun Lakes Country Club, and he was a lifesaver on this project.

Paul and Ron worked on the layout and font choices and made several trips to get Jeff’s approval. The material that was finally selected was King ColorCore High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) which is what the national parks use for their signs. Paul did all the lettering work on both sides of the sign, Ron designed and welded the framework, and it was powder coated at Inyati Industrial Powder Coating. It should be noted that Paul and Ron are both residents of Sun Lakes Country Club and donated all their time and labor. Sun Lakes HOA 1 covered the cost of materials and the powder coating.
