The Sun Lakes Short Line Model Railroad Club was pleased to again set up our modules in the lobby of the clubhouse at Oakwood for Christmas. This is a lot of fun for us and seems to bring joy to many residents who have fond memories of their own holiday trains.
Even though the club has modules of all scales, we have a large number of members involved in our N Scale group. The “N Scalers” in the group have a set of portable modules built to a national standard called T-TRAK. T-TRAK allows module owners to go anywhere in the country and connect to the layouts of other T-TRAK groups. Members of the Sun Lakes club have taken modules and participated in T-TRAK events that include hundreds of miles, representing many miles of track. Imagine putting your 6-inch-long engine on the track and not seeing it come back for over three hours as it moves around the combined trackage.
We enjoy railroading and its rich history and are always ready to welcome new members. We meet in the Arts Room at Oakwood on the second Saturday of every month at a little after 1 p.m.
