Unit 36C wishes to send a huge thank you to all of our Sun Lakes communities who donated and attended our annual Diamond Lake Luminary and Food Donation event this past December. Our very generous communities set a record for total non-perishable food items and monetary donations by providing approximately 30,000 individual meals, far surpassing all other years! AZCEND appreciates our event because it provides so many meals for those in need—filling up those food shelves and boxes so needed during the holiday season—and especially this year! Such a generous community! Bravo to you all!
It goes without saying, this event takes a lot of work provided by many volunteers. So many thank yous! First of all, to the Diamond Lake homeowners who beautifully decorated their backyards for all to enjoy; to Al and Deb Silverstein for coordinating the luminaries and all of the volunteers who place and light them both nights; to our talented entertainment volunteers Suzy Steinmann, Roseanne Kuefner, and Lisa Haun who sang Sunday evening; Laura Fial and Michael Alexander on Saturday evening; Gene Cline and the Sun Lakes Instrumental Ensemble (both evenings); Ray Ficek who provided holiday karaoke both evenings; our Santas David Cummings and Ray Ellis; Darrell Hixson (security); the Sun Lakes Posse for traffic control; our publicity person Sandy Ketterer; Carol Mellinger for costumes and popcorn balls (snowballs); and many others who are behind the scenes. And last but not least, to our HOA who provides the signage and luminary supplies.
We look forward to another fantastic event this year on Dec. 12 and 13. Save the dates!
