On Jan. 27 the Oakwood Ladies Golf Association (OLGA) participated in a fundraising event to benefit Valley Bloom, a nonprofit agency whose mission is to transform the lives of children and adults through community programs. Fifty OLGA members supported the tournament, which raised $3,503 for the agency, and funds were presented to thankful staff members on Feb. 3. In addition, personal care items were donated by the golfers and were provided to the Chandler schools’ unhomed teens coordinator and were distributed the same day. This support helps break barriers and brings brighter futures to East Valley children and families.
Valley Bloom students receive clothing, school uniforms, personal care items, and school essentials in Mesa, Tempe, Kyrene, and Chandler schools.
Gilbert and Chandler homeless teens receive supplies and support for school success. Financial assistance is awarded to qualified seniors graduating from the East Valley Institute of Technology and homeless teens in Chandler and Gilbert who plan to pursue higher education.
In addition, neighbors in crisis receive new clothing, snacks, blankets, and other essentials to ease stress, poverty, and trauma. Cleaning supplies are provided to families transitioning into housing and through Save the Family organization. Valley Bloom also provides disabled adults monthly activities and snacks at an adult daycare center.
