A few of the Gila Butte Daughters of the American Revolution met for a fun and informative outing. The Desert River Audubon Society gave a guided tour of Veterans Oasis Park, and Liberty Wildlife had two raptors on site. They had two birds of prey: Barbosa, a red-tailed hawk, and Cassidy, a Swainson’s hawk. These two birds had sustained injuries and could not be released back into the wild. It was very interesting to hear their stories. They now have a permanent home with Liberty Wildlife and a job to help educate the public on these magnificent creatures.
Gila Butte Chapter, NSDAR, participated in National Salute to Veteran Patient Week at two different locations for the cake cutting and serving veterans, family, and staff members. Each day, the cake was decorated for a different branch of the military.
Gila Butte Daughters enjoy their work, and if you would like to join us, the chapter warmly welcomes women interested in the Daughters of the American Revolution. Ladies interested in joining may contact Ruth at ruth@narancic.com. The chapter can assist with lineage research to prospective members.
