Did you find all the clues on the Golf Cart Rally course? The fun isn’t stopping quite yet. We have two events left this season. Get your tickets right away for Comedy Night on Thursday, April 9, in the Oakwood ballroom and Game Night on Saturday, April 25, in the Cottonwood ballroom. Check the website www.funlakers.org for tickets. Remember that members get a discount.
Comedy Night will feature Tom Clark as headliner. Floyd Haas is excited to bring Tom on stage, as he has been trying to get him for years. You won’t want to miss this. You can get drinks at the cash bar and a meal before all the laughing begins. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Where else can you have so much fun on a random Thursday night?
After that, our last event of the season will be Game Night, with Ray Rodriguez directing Trivia, The Newlywed Game with pre-signups, and Music Bingo. This event is always two tons of fun. We’re hoping for an enthusiastic group to send out the season with a bang. The event is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The club needs your help. If you are already a member, think about what you can bring to the club. We are actively recruiting members to serve in board positions. There are currently openings for an Events Chair and Publicity Chair. If you haven’t joined yet and are interested, go to our website at www.funlakers.org to join. If you leave for the summer, no worries. Our club takes the summer off, too, so you can still hold a board position. The board meets once a month from October through May, and next year’s calendar is already planned. Jump in and get involved. It’s the best way to get to know people and enjoy the satisfaction of doing something worthwhile—providing fun events to help people expand their social interactions.
You can be a brand-new member or a longtime enthusiast. You don’t need to be a professional events planner to be Events Chair. There is a committee in place for support, and you can make it more fun by enlisting your best friend to join you. It can be a shared position, and best of all, the events for next year are already in the works.
Perhaps you enjoy writing and creating eye-catching flyers or want to learn how. Being Publicity Chair will let you get your creative juices flowing. This position can benefit from being a shared position as well.
