Rick Staszewski-Publicity IMGA
Thank you Al McCormick for your decade of service managing food and beverage for the Ironwood Men’s Golf Association (IMGA).
Al McCormick arrived at Ironwood in 2015. Owning and managing his own insurance agency in his beloved state of Ohio—a true Buckeye fan from the great city of Columbus. He brought his love of golf to Ironwood Golf Course. Fortunately for us, he had prior golf membership experience at Westerville Golf Club. It was there that he saw first hand the golfers chasing their dreams at US Open qualifying. Friendships are created from the members you play with regularly. This resulted in him hopping in his car and driving to Oakmont for a round of golf!
Al began playing regularly at Ironwood and became involved in running the summer events schedule. Al took notice of the dining experience members had when playing in home and home golf events with nearby clubs. He inserted himself in the member experience and upgraded the food and beverage offerings. Hot dogs on the grill cooked by the resident pro became a thing of the past. Al combined the great golf played at Ironwood with upgraded food experiences by working closely with our catering staff. His newfound friendship with Dan Smith was the springboard for his involvement. The members benefitted for eleven years with Al managing the food. A familiar face of Ironwood as Al can walk out his front door and be here in less than five minutes. He is the de facto ambassador of Ironwood! Al will now play some golf but continue caring for his wife of 46 years. Two of his children reside locally and two are back in the Buckeye state. Three grandkids will also keep him occupied.
His hobbies besides golf included fresh water fishing with his Bass Masters boat when he could make the time. His dream golf foursome would be with Lee Trevino, Jack Nicklaus and Jordan Spieth. Not a bad group!
Thank you Al from all of us at IMGA!
