Breakfast Lions Donate Medical Supplies to Sun Lakes Posse

One of the nicer and more beneficial parts of our Sun Lakes community is the Sheriff’s Posse medical equipment loaning program, which provides free usage of various medical items to residents free of charge. Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions president Jack Dreyer remarked, “It seems like a small thing until you or a family member are in need of these items and usually on short notice. We are happy to assist in the efforts to serve the Sun Lakes community.”

Breakfast Lions Donate to Sun Sounds of Arizona

It was back in 1925 that Hellen Keller spoke at a convention of Lions Club International and asked the assembled Lions to become the “Knights of the blind.” Since that speech, Lions worldwide have made sight and sight related issues a major cause of their philanthropy. The Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions Club (SLBLC) has been honored to be partners with Sun Sounds of Arizona (SSoA), which provides blind or vision impaired Arizonans with audio devices to give these individuals access to everything from the grocery ads to newspapers and magazines read by Sun Sounds volunteers. The SLBLC has toured their studios and were amazed at the amount of services available and the dedication of the SSoA workers.
Breakfast Lions Provide Free Books to Chandler Schools
Brian Curry
In this digital age it’s important that school age kids learn to read in school, but that they also stay interested and enjoy reading. That’s why the Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions have donated hundreds of free age appropriate books to Chandler elementary school students. Through the years, the project in cooperation with the national “Kids Need To Read” program, has been led by SLBLC vice president David Coffman and his wife Suzanne. This year they visited Andersen Elementary. Interested in joining the Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions? Call us at 480-242-4356.

Easter Festivities Sun Lakes (Evening) Lions Club
Members of Sun Lakes (evening) Lions Club and Girl Scout Troop 3987 were asked and gladly accepted the request from the Easter Bunny to help him fill 1,500 easter eggs for the children of residents here in Sun Lakes on April 4.
Volunteers from the Club successfully delivered those eggs and had a great time.
The Club also entered a well decorated golf cart for the Easter parade.
