The East Valley Photo Club’s (EVPC) annual banquet, competition, and year-end awards meeting was held on April 16 in the Navajo Room of Sun Lakes Country Club. The evening’s festivities began with the presentation of individual awards won by our members at the Arizona Camera Club Council’s (ACCC) Spring Roundup Competition on April 11 in Buckeye, Ariz. A total of 14 participating members took home a total of 111 individual awards. The total included 65 Acceptances, 32 Honorable Mentions, four First Place, four Second Place, and three Third Place awards along with three special individual awards.
Nancy Thoma won first place awards in both the Creative and Photo Travel categories. Isabel Guerra Clark won two first place awards in the Nature category with one of those also receiving the Best Nature Story special award. Isabel also received three second place awards. Donna McGregor won the other second place award. Third place awards were won by Donna McGregor, Isabel Guerra Clark and Jan Ballard, whose entry also won the special Creative Expression award. Phyllis Peterson won the special award for Excellence in Landscape. Overall, this season has been a very successful one for EVPC in the two ACCC statewide competitions.
The evening concluded with our year-end competition featuring the best entries in previously judged competitions judged by a panel of three judges and the announcement of Photographer of the Year awards in both print and digital divisions in all three classes.
Our year-end competition for Best Photo of the Year results were as follows:
Class A Prints—Isabel Guerra Clark, Class B Prints—Donna McGregor, and Class C Prints—Thomas Boylan.
Class A Digital—Isabel Guerra Clark, Class B Digital—Diane Anderson, and Class C Digital—Ken Martin.
Photographer of the Year awards are determined by the highest average score achieved by competitors during regular competitions held during the current season. The results were as follows:
Prints: Class A—Isabel Guerra Clark, Class B—Donna McGregor, and Class C—Cindy Stalter.
Projected Images: Class A—Isabel Guerra Clark, Class B—Diane Anderson, and Class C—Warren Wasecha.
We’re looking forward to a photographically productive off-season for our members and to welcoming both new members and veterans when we resume our meetings in October of 2026.
