Happy July, Sun Lakes! I recently heard a name that was new to me attributed to those of us who stay in Arizona for the summer: Firebirds! It feels quite appropriate. I take pride in the fact that I enjoy the summer months of high temperatures, because I can still golf early in the morning and enjoy the activities that never stop despite the heat. The couples’ golf furnace leagues on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 4 p.m. definitely come to mind.
I know we’re all anxiously awaiting the new pool and having our outdoor patio back. In the meantime, we’re seeing other exciting changes at the Cottonwood bar and restaurant. If you haven’t been to one of the Friday dances upstairs in the restaurant, you’re missing out. It’s a wonderful mix of food, friends, and dancing (or just enjoying the music). And yes, you heard right—the popcorn machine is coming back!
Over the past several months, your Board and management team have been focused on finding ways to control expenses while continuing to provide the quality of services and amenities you expect and deserve. One of those initiatives was to eliminate kitchen service over lunch at the Palo Verde Restaurant and introduce the new “Grab and Go” concept. While many of you have appreciated and enjoyed this service, others have missed having full service at the bar. In direct response to homeowner feedback and suggestions, full-service lunch is now available Tuesday through Saturday.
I sincerely hope residents will take the opportunity to enjoy the extended lunch hours. Continued participation is what allows us to sustain and evaluate these services. It also helps us better understand what is most meaningful to the community and guides future decisions.
I hope you all have a safe and exciting 250th Fourth of July celebration. God Bless America!
