Virginia Wellard
Have you, like me, often thought of inviting your neighbors over to get better acquainted? I finally did it and it was easy and so much fun! My invitation was a simple half sheet of paper, typed on google docs. I hand delivered the invitation to every house on Spring Creek. If no one answered, I rolled it up and tied it to the door handle. Here’s what I wrote:
You’re Invited
To our backyard, Wednesday, May 6, 7 to 9 p.m. Hi Neighbors! We are Alan and Ginger Wellard. We’ve been here 6 years and figured it’s time to meet our neighbors!
We’ll have Costco bake us a cake, so please join us for cake and to meet and mingle with your fellow Spring Creek residents.
We promise we have nothing to sell, no political agenda to push. We just want to connect with our neighbors, be of help to you in times of need, which is much easier to do if we know each other. Come and go as you please. Please just come!
We had such a great turn out, I didn’t count, we took no pictures but who knew there were so many awesome people living on Spring Creek! Yes, you can all be jealous but I bet there are equally awesome people right by you. Don’t pass up the opportunity to invite them over!
It can be even easier for you this fall when we sponsor G.A.I.N. in Sun Lakes on Oct. 24.
G.A.I.N. stands for Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods, a statewide initiative that brings neighbors, local organizations, and law enforcement together to strengthen community relationships, promote safety, and build a stronger sense of connection. Our goal is to have neighbors host a welcoming, family-friendly event where they can meet one another and celebrate our neighborhood. So mark your calendar for Sept. 22 to attend our kick off in Sisk Park at 6 p.m. There we will answer any questions you may have and provide some ideas for a successful party. It doesn’t have to be complicated.
Please just come Sept. 22, 6 p.m, Sisk Park!
