Carol Horowitz
When it comes to arts and entertainment clubs, you might say that LAFF is definitely like a ‘Horse of a Different Color’! We are unlike any other group or organization within Sun Lakes. Some of the words and expressions that best describe LAFF include: unique, fun, friendly, great camaraderie, creative, innovative, positive, genuine, and upbeat!
Those who participate as our performers, backstage crew, or helpers call us “one big, happy family,” a “true learning opportunity,” “warm and welcoming,” and also say that LAFFis “on my bucket list of things to experience,” that it’s truly “interfaith,” and that it is “open to all interested.”
Those who become our audiences claim that they’ve “never laughed so hard!”, had “cheeks that hurt from constantly smiling!”, or that they “can’t wait until LAFF’s next performance!”
A true “horse of a different color,” we uniquely offer a wide variety of creative enrichment experiences in all of the arts (music, visual art, and theatrical arts). LAFF provides innovative opportunities to “learn by doing” in a nurturing, warm environment that encourages you to develop skills, and grow your own creative expression, and discover your hidden talents.
Join our fun and LAFF with us and see for yourself! LAFF is always seeking new members who like to act, sing, dance, do comedy, or help backstage, create stage sets, or help with stage tech. Together, we create, learn, and especially have a great time LAFFing!
Our next LAFFing adventure will begin in September, right after Labor Day, when we’ll kick off auditions and rehearsals for our performances of “The Key To A Good Night’s Sleep”, an original and hysterically funny musical comedy.
Originally slated to be performed in March of 2026, the play had to be postponed due to multiple illnesses of cast members. Happily, it will now be reprised in early 2027, although it will return in a slightly different format! The musical comedy will now be approximately 45 minutes in length and will be accompanied by several vignettes and musical performances, all happening in less than an hour and a half of nonstop LAFFing!
The musical comedy will be presented as a part of LAFF’s special event on two weekends at the end of January, “The Sun Lakes’ Celebration of the Creative Arts.” Stay tuned for more information to be announced in the Splash over the summer!
