This month, we are highlighting the collection of series housed at the Sun Lakes Library. A series consists of at least two books, but usually has five to seven—and can have even more. Characters develop over a period of time, with some series introducing characters in their youth and following them throughout their lives or over generations. Settings are made up of place and time. Characters might remain in one place over years or move from one place to another. It is generally best to read these books in order. Choosing a series will provide lots of Summer reading opportunities.
One of the most popular series at the Sun Lakes Library is The Bregdan Chronicles. Retired Head Librarian, Doreen Taylor, has helped to compile the 21 books in the series, which is set during the Civil War and follows multiple characters over different timelines.
Nora Robert’s paranormal romance series is The Lost Bride Trilogy, beginning with Inheritance. The second and third books are The Mirror and The Seven Rings. These books span two time periods, past and present.
A very popular psychological thriller series is authored by Freida McFadden. The series includes The Housemaid, The Housemaid’s Secret, and The Housemaid is Watching.
The Seven Sisters series follows adopted sisters around the world as they search for their heritage. This series by Lucinda Riley includes eight books.
John W. Mefford’s Alex Troutt thrillers include six books: At Bay, At Large, At Once, At Dawn, At Dusk, and At Last. Other series include books by Meg Cabot, one through four, of The Vanished series. There are seven books in the Cara Maxwell Rake Review series. These historical romances begin with Jilted in January and continue on through The Scot Who Made June Hot.
There is certainly something for everyone this summer, as you pick up some books from one or more of these series. Happy Summer Reading!
