Sisk Park—A Small Oasis in the Sun
When Sisk Park was originally created, it was designed as a central gathering spot for relaxation and outdoor enjoyment. Over the years, it has been the location for family gatherings, homeowner picnics and many sports activities for both club and individual play. As we all know, the relentless Arizona sun takes a heavy toll and over time the space has deteriorated. This signaled that a full-scale renovation was necessary to restore its value and appeal. Over the last few years, each of the four bocce ball courts were fully resurfaced and the open area play field was completely covered with artificial turf making the entire area low maintenance while significantly reducing water usage. Most recently “Turf Monsters” rolled in to tear out the old, failing putting course, digging, cutting and shaping the area to build stunning new putting greens, complete with the illusion of water and sand using artificial turf. The putting course was completed on July 31.
I took a trip to Sisk Park recently to see the new improvements, and I encourage everyone to take advantage of this wonderful updated gem in our community. I found a box stocked with croquet mallets, badminton equipment and a cornhole game, along with a picnic ramada area complete with grills and bathrooms. Sisk Park is a great place to go outside, enjoy some friendly competition, and spend time with family and friends. Just a note, it’s a good idea to make a reservation for the ramada area early.
