Agave Quilters New Season Has Begun, Come Join the Fun!

Quilt artist Merci Apodaca with her Halloween collection.

Betty Bogaard

The new season of Agave Quilters meetings was opened on Sept. 2 with a presentation by the talented art quilter Merci Apodaca who shared her vibrant Halloween collection of quilts, wall hangings, table runners, pillows, and coasters. Each detailed piece being a work of art and beautifully finished. Merci creates her designs using machine embroidery, appliqué, paper piecing, and lots of bling!

Agave members are actively giving back to our community by creating quilts for our local veterans. These patriotic quilts will be delivered to the Arizona Patriot Guard Riders to be gifted during the holiday season. We also continue to make and deliver quilts to Valleywise Health Medical Center to be given to hospitalized children.

Our October meeting will feature nationally known designer, Heidi Pridemore from the Whimsical Workshop, she will be presenting Color Play for Quilters. We would love to have you join us. Each of our meetings provides educational and community service opportunities, stash tables with free quilting fabric and supplies, and gift card giveaways to local quilt shops. Members are encouraged to join our friendship and special interest groups, which include machine sewing, art quilting, hand sewing, machine embroidery, and social lunches. You do not need to be a quilter to participate! Whether you are a longtime resident, a previous member, or new to the community, we invite anyone with an interest in textiles, fabric artistry, or quilting to join the fun, meet new people, and support these great causes.
