Cheers Trip Opportunities

July saw seven Cheers members, together with a number of Savvy Travelers, go on a cruise to the Adriatic and Mediterranean Seas. They were on Europa Adventures, a new line, which currently has three luxury liners that carry only 900 passengers, all in spacious outside cabins.

Several travelers started and ended in Athens while others chose the shorter Venice to Athens route. All agreed that it was a wonderful experience, with exceptional food and service.

Other Cheers members took off for the hills and/or to San Diego to get away from the heat.

Trips that are coming up include the following:

Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, Oct. 8 to 11: Price; $1,645 per person/double, $2,095 per person/single. Free Spirit has a unique location on a bluff overlooking the field. You get to see over 500 balloons lift off in the biggest balloon festival in the country.

Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend, Nov. 10 to 11, $585 per person/double, $660 per person/single.Another great short trip from Free Spirit Vacations.

Discover Navajo with Monument Valley at Full Moonlight, Oct. 26 to 29,

$1,675.00 per person/double, $1,950 per person/single. See some of the most beautiful sites in Arizona found within the Navajo Nation.

We have six members signed up for the Caribbean Cruise, on Windstar Cruises from March 20 to 27, 2027 that includes gratuities, a beverage package, and $100 per person on board credit.

The itinerary includes roundtrip to and from St. Maarten with stops that include St. Kitts and Nevis, Guadeloupe, Dominica, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. A perfect cruise for beach lovers!

Monthly Wine Tasting—The second Wednesday of each month a club member hosts a wine tasting and potluck dinner in their home. Advance registration is required and a $10 fee per person is collected to provide funds for the purchase of a variety of wine, selected and presented by the host/hostess. Anne Brunick serves as the activity leader, supporting and assisting monthly hosts.

Title One School Donations—Cheers provides charitable support to needy students at Hamilton High School and all Title 1 schools in Chandler. Voluntary donations of food, household items, and/or cash are provided monthly. If preferred, one may write a check directly to a school of your choice, specifying which activity you wish your contribution to be credited to. These donations are coordinated by Sally Wegrin, 203-470-0733, in collaboration with Hamilton Social Work staff, and are greatly appreciated in our community. Though school is out for the summer the need continues year around. Donations continue to be needed and provided throughout the summer months.

Dine Out—Dine-Out meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Members dine out together at a selected restaurant in the community. This activity, coordinated by Robert Russo, provides the opportunity to try new restaurants and perhaps new types of cuisine in the company of friends. Advance registration at the weekly Cheers social is required to confirm restaurant reservations.

Book Club—This group meets every third Tuesday at the Oakwood Clubhouse former Library. If interested in participating, contact Anna Murch, 602-502-8928.
