A Message from the President: Planning Today for the IronOaks of Tomorrow

Dale Goodwin, IronOaks President

Budget season is one of the most important times of the year at IronOaks. It’s when we take a close look at where we are today, where we want to go tomorrow, and how we can best use our resources to maintain and enhance the community we all enjoy.

Developing the 2027 budget is a collaborative effort involving our Management Team, Finance Committee, Board Treasurer, and entire Board of Directors. Our focus is straightforward: operate efficiently, plan responsibly, and make thoughtful investments in the future of IronOaks.

The budget process includes managing our three primary funds:

* Operating Fund—Supports the day-to-day operations of IronOaks, including staffing, restaurant food and beverage, utilities, taxes, fertilizer, and seed. When we have operating surpluses, those funds can also help support short-term projects, such as the recent Poolside shade covering.

* Reserve Fund—Provides for the repair and replacement of community assets, including common-area and golf-course equipment, building HVAC systems, and perhaps most importantly, our roads. As a gated community, maintaining and eventually replacing our extensive road system is a significant long-term responsibility.

* FACE Fund—Supports larger, long-term projects such as the Grill on the Green and Poolside renovations. This fund is sustained by a one-time fee paid at the time of a home sale.

In addition to operating expenses and capital projects, we evaluate homeowner assessments and amenity fees for 2027. Our objective is to ensure we have the resources necessary to maintain the quality of our community while remaining responsible stewards of your money.

Thanks to careful planning and financial discipline, IronOaks has enjoyed budget surpluses in recent years, and we are working toward the same outcome for 2027. At the same time, we recognize that responsible financial management isn’t simply about keeping costs down. It’s about making sure we are adequately prepared for the future and continuing to invest in the things that make IronOaks such a special place to live.

We will continue to keep you informed as the budget process moves forward. Our commitment is to thoughtful planning, sound financial stewardship, and transparent governance.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Board President. I’m proud to be part of this community and look forward to seeing you around IronOaks.

Enjoy the cooler weather!
