Gila Butte Chapter, NSDAR

Gila Butte Chapter Regent, Becky Donatelli, Arizona State Regent Katie Paulsen, Gila Butte Chapter Honorary Regent Jean Milberger.

The Gila Butte Chapter of National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) had a busy September with celebrating Constitution Week at our first general meeting of the year presided over by our new chapter Regent, Becky Donatelli. Members also welcomed home two returning Veteran Honor Flights at Sky Harbor Airport and participated in the City of Chandler’s Constitution Day Ceremony and provided five high schools with Constitution Week materials to be displayed at their schools.

October will be exciting as the chapter will attend three open houses starting Oct. 3 at Cottonwood C.C., Oct. 10 at Oakwood C.C. and ending at Sun Lakes C.C. on Oct. 17. This is an opportunity to welcome new and returning residents to the Sun Lakes area and introduce them to The Daughters of the American Revolution and our Gila Butte Chapter in Sun Lakes. On Oct. 9 and 22, chapter members will go to Sky Harbor Airport to welcome home the returning Honor Flight Veterans. Later in the month we will participate in a cookout at the new U.S. Vets facility in Phoenix. The facility can house 150 veterans’; this is such a rewarding opportunity to give a little something back to our veterans who gave so much for us.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, charitable organization, founded in 1890 and incorporated by an act of the United States Congress in 1896. Membership in the society is open to any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove their lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. The DAR functions as a volunteer service organization and is dedicated to patriotism, education, and historic preservation. While DAR supports a strong national defense, it is not a political organization, nor does it lobby. Its membership includes women from Republican, Democrat and Independent parties.
